The second edition of “Original Works Collections” series selects new wind works by outstanding Japanese composers.
Recently, many Japanese composers are being performed at the All Japan Band Competition and other concerts, and are highly regarded. This collection represents contemporary wind music in a variety of styles of instrumentation, grade, genre, etc.
Titles include “Nazca,” Yagisawa’s third work in his series describing ancient civilizations, and “A Centenary Celebration,” famous for its “Gold Prize” performance by a band of just 10 members at the small band division of the Kansai Competition. And “Prayer” is based on the tragic theater hostage affair in Moscow on 23 Oct., 2002, written with the composer’s strong plea for peace.
We are also proud of this high quality recording by the leading ensemble “Japan Ground Self Defense Force Central Band”.
